What is Reiki?
Reiki is a form of alternative therapy commonly referred to as energy or spiritual healing. It emerged in Japan in the late 1800’s and involves the transfer of universal energy from the practitioner’s palms to their patient.
Energy healing has been used for centuries in various forms and it works with the energy fields around the body.
Energy can stagnate in the body where there has been physical injury or possibly emotional pain. In time, these energy blocks can cause illness. Energy medicine aims to help the flow of energy and remove blocks in a similar way to acupuncture or acupressure, improving the flow of energy around the body. It can enable relaxation, reduce pain, speed healing, and reduce other symptoms of illness.
As a practitioner I use crystals, essential oils and sound to enhance your healing experience.
Each session is unique to the person receiving the treatment. There is a specific number of places on your body that I lightly touch, starting on the left (past) and moving to the right (future). If you come with a specific ailment I can focus on that.
I may receive messages that I will convey to you, usually at the end of the session. These messages may be to do with your health or somethings in your life that you need to be aware of.
I ensure that you are comfortable, either lying on the bed or seated in a chair. I play soft meditation music in quiet surrounds.
Sessions can also be conducted remotely, this is known as distance healing, and is still extremely powerful.

Frequently Asked Questions
How Does Reiki Work?
At the simplest, most obvious level, it appears that Reiki treatment helps lessen the impact of stress, releasing tension from the entire system. Not only does the person move toward his or her own unique balance in body, mind and spirit, but also, depending on the level of physical health when Reiki begins, the body's own healing mechanisms often begin functioning more effectively.
What are the Benefits of Reiki?
Reiki relieves pain, anxiety and fatigue. A 2018 study Trusted Source compared the use of Reiki to physiotherapy for relieving lower back pain in people with herniated disks. Both treatments were found to be equally effective at relieving pain, but Reiki was more cost-effective and, in some cases, resulted in faster treatment.
Another 2010 study showed Reiki treatments may be used as part of a treatment plan to help relieve depression. Researchers looked at the effects of Reiki on older adults experiencing pain, depression, or anxiety. The participants reported an improvement of their physical symptoms, mood, and well-being. They also reported more feelings of relaxation, increased curiosity, and enhanced levels of self-care.
